Just Face The Facts:
Your L10 Could Be Better!
- No one knows a "To-Do" from an IDS, and no one can even understand a VTO
- Your entire team knows each other, and most have "personal issues" with someone on the team
- Your meetings often go "off the rails" to the point they become pointless
- You're trying to grow your business, not lose your best people
- But your best people hate coming to a weekly L10 because they feel it's worthless
If your L10 is worthless why are you even having it?
Here's a fact: The person leading the L10 isn't a professional leader of meetings. Sometimes they're the Integrator, sometimes a Department head, sometimes the Visionary, and sometimes it could even be YOU!
As a result, and more often than you think or want, you end up with the "alternative L10" - the "Least 10" ways to improve your company:
- Lack of Agenda Adherence: Not following the structured agenda (Segue, Scorecard, Rock Review, Customer/Employee Headlines, To-Do List, IDS, Conclude) can lead to disorganization.
- Ineffective Time Management: Allowing discussions to overrun their allotted time slots can result in important items being rushed or not addressed at all.
- Dominance by One or Few Individuals: If one or a few members dominate the conversation, it can stifle diverse perspectives and lead to unbalanced decision-making.
- Inadequate Preparation: Team members not coming prepared with updates on their action items, rocks, or scorecard data can hinder progress.
- Lack of Focus on Issues: Spending too much time on status updates or general discussions instead of focusing on solving key issues (IDS - Identify, Discuss, Solve).
- Avoiding Tough Conversations: Not addressing underlying conflicts or challenging topics can lead to unresolved issues and tension within the team.
- Sidetracking and Tangents: Diverging from the main topics to discuss unrelated issues can dilute the effectiveness of the meeting.
- Failure to Create Actionable Items: Not translating discussions into clear, actionable to-dos with specific owners and deadlines can lead to lack of accountability and follow-through.
- Poor Communication and Listening: Ineffective communication, including not actively listening to others' points of view, can lead to misunderstandings and inefficient decision-making.
- Neglecting to Review and Adapt: Failing to regularly review the effectiveness of the L10 meeting format and making necessary adjustments based on team feedback and changing needs.
These are just the first 10!
Isn't It Time You Did Better?
Isn't It Time Your Business Did?
Hello,
My name is Paul and I'm the Director of Sales and Marketing for a multi-seven figure business twice recognized on the Inc. 5000 as being one of the fastest growing in the nation.
In addition, I'm also the Integrator and Facilitator for the business.
I have certain insights on how to "handle" a crowd. And what is a L10 / meeting if not simply a "crowd" of people showing up to discuss things of importance to the business?
If your Facilitator is (or the Facilitator is you and you are):
- Lacking confidence in leading
- Lacking focus in the meeting
- Lacking respect from others in the meeting
- Lacking time-skills in managing the meeting
- Lacking clear objectives for the meeting
- And many, many other things
- OR, just wanting to learn some new skills that will help propel them / you to be the best
That's how I can help. And I'd love to help you.
